OPEN CUP MONTANA 2026 – MONTANA OPEN CUP 2026

Sports Karate Club Montana has the honour of inviting competitors, coaches, referees, officials and guests to MONTANA OPEN CUP 2026 — the 5th tournament organized by Sports Karate Club Montana, held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Sports Karate Club Montana.

The event is organized jointly with the Bulgarian KyokushinKan Federation and the Bulgarian Global Kyokushin Budokai Federation, under whose rules the tournament will be held.

The amateur competition rules of Global Kyokushin Budokai are almost identical to those of KyokushinKan, with minor changes aimed at fewer interruptions and a freer style of fighting.

The Global Kyokushin Budokai rules for professional competitors differ significantly from the amateur rules, but they are not part of this competition.

The event will bring together competitors from different countries in the spirit of Kyokushin and Budokai — a spirit of respect, discipline and strong international friendship.

The competition will take place on 26 September 2026 at Arena Varshets, town of Varshets, Bulgaria.

Boys U12, 10–11 years:

Junior Boys U14, 12–13 years:
-35 kg, -40 kg, -45 kg, -50 kg, +50 kg

Junior Boys U16, 14–15 years:
-40 kg, -45 kg, -50 kg, -55 kg, -60 kg, +60 kg

Junior Boys U18, 16–17 years:
-55 kg, -60 kg, -65 kg, -70 kg, +70 kg

Men, 18+ years:
-70 kg, -80 kg, +80 kg

Senior, 35+ years:
Open Category

Girls, Junior Girls and Women

Girls U12, 10–11 years:
-25 kg, -30 kg, -35 kg, -40 kg, +40 kg

Junior Girls U14, 12–13 years:
-30 kg, -35 kg, -40 kg, -45 kg, -50 kg, +50 kg

Junior Girls U16, 14–15 years:

Preliminary Competition Regulations

Match Duration

U12, 10–11 years
Preliminary rounds: 1.5 min.
Semi-finals and finals: 1.5 + 1 min.
Decisive weight difference: less than 2 kg

U14, 12–13 years
Preliminary rounds: 1.5 min.
Semi-finals and finals: 1.5 + 1 min.
Decisive weight difference: less than 2 kg

U16, 14–15 years
Preliminary rounds: 2 + 1 min.
Semi-finals and finals: 2 + 1 + 1 min.
Decisive weight difference: less than 3 kg

U18, 16–17 years
Preliminary rounds: 2 + 2 min.
Semi-finals and finals: 2 + 2 + 1 min.
Decisive weight difference: less than 3 kg

Women
Preliminary rounds: 2 + 2 min.

Mandatory Protective Equipment

All competitors are required to provide and wear the necessary protective equipment according to their age and category.

Groin guard — mandatory for boys, junior boys, senior boys and men.

Chest protector — mandatory for girls, junior girls, senior girls and women.

Gloves — mandatory for children, junior boys, junior girls, senior boys and senior girls.

Helmet without face grid — mandatory for children, junior boys, junior girls, senior boys and senior girls.

Shin and instep guards — mandatory for children, junior boys, junior girls, senior boys and senior girls.

All teams arriving at the airport will be provided with organized transportation to the city of the competition.

The celebration of the 40th anniversary of Sports Karate Club Montana will take place after the tournament, at 20:00, in the official hotel of the tournament — Hotel ATA, Varshets.

Arrival of Delegations

The arrival of participating teams and delegations is scheduled for 24–25 September 2026.

For teams arriving at Sofia Airport, the organizer will provide arranged transportation to the official hotel of the tournament.
In order to organize the transfer, teams must inform the organizer in advance about their exact date and time of arrival.
